Dr Diarmuid Currid
Clinical Director
MVB MRCVSDiarmuid graduated in 1997 from University College Dublin. His first job was working at the RSPCA Animal Hospital in Manchester, where he gained experience working in a very busy clinical environment. He then gained experience in an emergency clinic before moving on to work in a small animal first opinion private practice. In 2000 he teamed up with Gavin McCoubrey and established Tameside Veterinary Clinic He has an interest in medicine, orthopaedic surgery and ophthalmology. Diarmuid has a pet cat, rescued from an animal shelter where he used to help out.

Dr Loren Shearing
Clinical Director
MRCVS BVSc CertAVPLoren graduated form The University of Liverpool in 2011 and gained her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) from the RCVS in 2020.
Her career begun in a mixed practice in Grantham, Lincolnshire. After travelling the world and volunteering in Australia, Fuji and Thailand, Loren returned to the North West where she has worked in small animal practice since 2015.
She joined Tameside in 2017 and became a Clinical Director in 2020. Loren says that she enjoys all aspects of first opinion practice, but has a special interest in cats, in particular senior and geriatric feline medicine. In 2021, she became a VetGDP Advisor, enabling her to coach and mentor recent graduates, which is something she is passionate about.
Outside of work she enjoys the great outdoors, trying to see as much of the world as possible, reading and eating cake! She currently lives in The Peak District with her partner, toddler named Arthur, Storm the border collie and Jasper the cat.

Dr Jenny Pepper
Dr Jenny Pepper
MRCVS BVSc Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal MedicineI qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2007 and have gained a certificate in Small Animal Medicine with the BSAVA in 2015. I started working for Tameside Veterinary Clinic in 2012 and became a Senior Vet in 2017 and a Clinical Director in 2020. I have been a vet for many years, I love my job, and take pride in our work. I specialise in medical problems in cats and dog. I particularly enjoy helping pets with multiple or complicated conditions. I am based primarily at the Hyde branch, where we have an excellent ultrasound machine, which enables me to do echocardiography and abdominal ultrasonography along with radiography and in house blood machines.
I live within the Peak District National Park and have recently rescued a Border Collie puppy from Pennine Pen. I have an allotment and spend a lot of time outdoors supporting the local Mountain Rescue Team.

Dr Justyna Gebarowska
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSJustyna graduated from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland in 2014. She began her professional journey in Poland, focusing on the treatment of small animals. Later, she relocated to the UK and worked as a general practitioner in a first opinion practice in Yorkshire. Since November 2021, she has been a member of the fantastic team at Tameside Veterinary Clinic. Currently, she is actively pursuing her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, with a specialisation in Diagnostic Imaging, which reflects her keen clinical interest. Justyna finds great satisfaction in her role as a veterinarian, as it allows her to help both animals and their owners on a daily basis. Outside of work, she relishes spending quality time with her family and friends, exploring new destinations through travel, and immersing herself in nature’s beauty.

Dr Gillian Laing
Veterinary Surgeon
MCRVSI graduated from Edinburgh University in 2020 and started work in a busy mixed practice on the Scottish coast seeing patients of all sizes. I moved to Tameside in March 2022 and love meeting and getting to know our patients and their humans! I love all aspects of veterinary, but have recently discovered a particular interest in dentistry and dermatology. My own little family consists of a selection of cats and guinea pigs, most of whom are rescues. I enjoy getting out exploring the country for hikes and hill climbs when I can, or curling up with a brew and a good book.

Dr Shemi Idzkowski
Veterinary Surgeon
Shemi graduated from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland and Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany in 2019. Shemi started his practice in Lincolnshire where he worked for 2 years, the then worked for a busy PDSA branch in Coventry. He likes a good mix of soft tissue surgery, dentistry and consultations. His interests are cooking, learning foreign languages, trekking and travelling.

Dr Ceibhionn Hodgson

Ceibhionn graduated from Liverpool University in 2021. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand and moved to the UK to finish schooling. Ceibhionn joined Tameside Veterinary Clinic in 2021. She enjoys her role as a vet and particularly how varied each day can be! She enjoys reading, going to sporting events with her partner and travel – visiting friends and family around the world.

Dr Helen Barry

Helen spent 3years after qualifying working in mixed practice in Staffordshire before moving to work in the PDSA hospital in Manchester for 5 years, gaining broad experience of small animal medicine and surgery.
She joined Tameside Veterinary Practice in 2021 is enjoying working with such a committed and caring team. She has recently adopted Basil, the cheeky cat who is bringing much joy.

Dr Sophie Laing
Veterinary Surgeon
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2022 and have been at TVC ever since. I enjoy being part of such a lovely and supportive team. My 16 year old Cocker Spaniel Alfie was my main inspiration in becoming a vet. In my spare time I enjoy kickboxing, going to gigs, travelling and running!
I recently did a spay and neuter clinic in Chiang Mai Thailand which I really enjoyed improving my surgical skills. -
Dr James Thomas
Veterinary Surgeon
CertAVPI graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2018 and started work in a busy small animal practice in Oldham. I spent nearly 6 years there and recently joined the team here at the beginning of 2024. I enjoy all aspects of first opinion clinical practice but have a particular interest in soft tissue and laparoscopic surgery. I also have a keen interest in endoscopy. I am in the final stages of completing my CertAVP and Master degree and hope to achieve my Advanced Practitioner status soon.
Outside of work I enjoy hiking with my labrador Nora, spending time with my partner and little boy and DIY around the home; my next project being the garden.

She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice and is particularly enjoying surgery. She is passionate about providing great care for her patients and treating them like her own. Outside of work she enjoys being outdoors, walking her dog or going running, as well as visiting new places.

Assoc. CIPDI’ve been working in the Veterinary Sector since 2009 and became a Veterinary Practice Manager in 2017. I joined the team at Tameside in March 2021. I feel passionate about creating a warm and caring environment for the whole team and the animals we look after. I have a diploma in HR with a specific interest in supporting Learning & Development.
I’m now studying for a PgCert in Veterinary Business Management with Liverpool University which I’m due to complete in July 2024.
Being a Practice Manager is varied, challenging, and rewarding. I love being part of a big team who make such a positive difference for our clients and their beloved pets. At home, I live with my husband, my two sons and a lovely grumpy rescue cat called Noodles who makes us laugh every day.

RVNI started working for Tameside Veterinary Clinic in July 2010, I came to work here to cover maternity leave on reception and since then I have progressed to Nursing Manager after qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in April 2016. I enjoy all aspects of my role especially emergency and critical care, inpatient care and nurse clinics. As nursing manager, my aspirations are to develop the nurse’s role within the practice, my management skills and continue to create a happy team environment.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and young child, we enjoy walking, playtime in the park and short trips away.

RVNNicola has been with us since the opening of our Hyde clinic back in 2012 and has been a Veterinary Nurse since 2002. Nicola has a keen interest in the nursing care of surgical cases. In particular, Orthopedic surgery.
In her spare time, Nicola enjoys spending quality time with her family and her five “Furbabies”.

RVNaura-Jo qualified as a RVN in January 2007 and joined the practice in April 2023 as a senior RVN. Laura-Jo has a particular interest in in-patient care, nutrition and diagnostic imaging. In her spare time, she enjoys Formula 1, rugby, reading and getting outdoors for an adventure. She is the proud owner of two dogs, Marigold and Vivienne, and two tortoises, Hilda and Mable.

Emma Stewart

RVNEmma started working in the industry in 2015 after working with horses as a qualified riding instructor. She had a passion to become a veterinary nurse after hearing about the stories her Mum use to tell her when she was a veterinary nurse many moons ago! Emma qualified in 2018 and is now a clinical coach to 1 of our students. She has a passion to help and guide other people stepping in to the veterinary nursing industry. Emma became one of our senior nurses in January 2024. Emma has nearly completed a nursing certificate in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. Outside of work she has 3 horses and is a keen competitor in Dressage and Ridden showing. She also has 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 rabbits!

RVNBecky qualifed in 2015 from Myerscough college with a Foundation Degree in Veterinary Nursing. Becky then went back to university to complete her honors degree in Veterinary Nursing. Which was completed in 2018. Becky has two dogs Alfie, the working Cocker Spainel and Noodles the Springer Spaniel. Becky also has a feline companion called Veronica (Roni for short). She spends her time walking her dogs and loves all things glamorous.

RVNI’m Victoria, I previously worked at the RSCPA where I qualified as a veterinary nurse. My little dog Kimbo was born here on one of my night shifts! I have worked at TVC for almost 10years now, I thoroughly enjoy my time here and have made some of my best friends. I love helping the students and inpatient care is my favourite part of my job. Outside of work my 3 children keep me extremely busy, we love to go camping and enjoy lots of baking!

RVNI’m Laura, I started at Tameside in Nov 2023 and have been an RVN for 7 years. Before that I studied Biological Sciences at York University. I did my nursing training in a busy hospital in Leeds and still have a passion for emergency and critical care. I also enjoy surgical nursing. At the moment I am currently studying for my Level 5 Advanced Nursing in Practice Nursing. Outside work I am kept busy with my daughter and golden retriever Bella. We enjoy going for long walks and playing outdoors.

I’m very passionate about nurse clinics and exotic species of pets, owning a Corn Snake myself called Samantha. Outside of Tameside Vets, I love spending time with my two Westie’s Rosie and Jim, building models, playing board games and drawing animals.

Hello, I’m Jess, I started working for Tameside veterinary clinic in December 2020 and I quickly fell in love with my job. I love getting to meet everyone’s pets and help all our lovely customers. I am keen to learn more about working with animals and hopefully one day become a vet nurse. My favourite pass time is spending time at the stables and going out horse-riding.
I have 3 pets, French Bulldog called Stitch, Ragdoll called Merlin and a Horse called William, they are my children.

Hi, I am Ruby and I started working for Tameside veterinary clinic in March 2021. At home I have my beautiful fur babies which consist of my English bulldog Rudi, 6 guinea pigs and an African pygmy hedgehog!

Charlotte started working for our Ashton practice in November 2014 after years of working in customer service roles. Charlotte now works at our brand new Droylsden Clinic. She loves being on front of house and greeting everyone with a warm welcome.
In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys reading and walking with her husband and two dogs, Louie the French Bulldog and Riley the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is also partial to a Gin or two!

I am constantly looking to expand my collection and so after work I am always browsing the next one to buy whilst chilling out with my feet up, watching a tv show or movie.
